Kmila: a Terminal Project at ESCOM.

Kmila is an open-source project developed as a Terminal Project (TT 2026-B059) at ESCOM, Instituto Politécnico Nacional.

The project was born from a concrete classroom need: learning digital design without depending on expensive hardware. Kmila brings VHDL editing, simulation and visualization into a single free tool, verified against the reference simulator GHDL.

The whole system — the simulation engine, the parser, the interpreters and the interfaces — was built from scratch in .NET, with over a hundred thousand lines of code and a broad suite of automated tests.
